The biggie was the snow storm!  President Christiansen encouraged all the missionaries to be in their apartments by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, then about 2:00 on Friday, changed it to immediately.  Irene and I were already in the apartment, because our afternoon appointments cancelled on us.

The meteorologists were just about right-on with this storm.  All the reports I kept looking at said it would start in our area at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.  At 2:10 p.m. I say the first snow flakes out our window.
Friday afternoon about 4:00 p.m.
By 4:00 pm. it was well on its way.  The snow flakes were very small, which generally is an indication that the snow will last for a while.
Saturday night

Before going to bed on Saturday night
The light at the end of the tunnel was beautiful!  This morning, Sunday, the sky was clear, the sun was bright, and the air was cold.  While we were reading the scriptures this morning, our good friend in North Carolina, Josanne Calvert, called to see if we weathered the storm.  It was good to hear from her.  They were also impacted by the storm, but they only got about three inches.
What we woke up to on Sunday morning.
Irene took this picture of me shoveling in front of the Honda.  I should have bought a shovel before the storm started, but I thought I could borrow Frank's, he lives next door.  He doesn't own one either.  I told Irene that on Monday I'm going to buy a shovel.  She said: "No you're not.  Wait till the day before the next storm to buy one."
Trying to dig out on Sunday about noon.
Irene planned an activity for us on Saturday to occupy our "in the apartment" time.  She look up on pinterest how to make tamales and purchased all the stuff to make them a couple of days ago.  So that is what we did.  For the first time making them, they were not too bad.
Making tamales to help pass the time away.
This is another video of the storm during the day on Saturday.

Saturday afternoon - about 12 hours into the storm.
Irene found this broken, abandoned shovel and started using it.  By the time we finished clearing the snow from around the Honda, we called it the "miracle shovel," because we heard it crack just a little bit more with each shovel full of snow we threw on the pile.
Irene just could not wait to get outside and start shoveling!
