9:31 a.m. the phone rings. As I pull the phone out of my pocket I looked at the screen to see who was calling. It showed, "MBM Brooklyn Park Elders." I answered with good morning, this Elder Moore. The voice on the other end of the phone said, "Good morning Elder Moore, this is Elder Stevens." Now it's unusual that we get a call from the missionaries this early in the day so I asked: "What's up?"
Elder Stevens asked if we heard what happened to them the night before. We hadn't so he started with the bizarre things that happened all day long. I'll mention just the first one and the last one.
The first one was when they went by to see a family whom they had not seen in a while. When they got there they saw that their house had been burned. Inquiring with some of the neighbors, they found out that both of them had been killed in the fire. Tragic! Reports indicate that the cause of the fire was a cigarette in the bedroom.
The last one. They were driving home about 8:30 last night on the freeway. The freeway went under the light rail tracks. They saw a rock hit the road and bounce. They could not swerve or stop in time and smack! The rock hit the windshield on the driver's side, bounced in the air and hit the hood on the passenger side. Yes, it smashed the window pretty good and put three pretty good sized dents in the hood.
If the rock had hit the window a little higher it would have gone through the window and hit Elder Carlson. Where it hit though, the dash actually kept the rock from going through. Small miracle but big consequences.
